US quilting industry continues to grow
US research from 2010 shows the industry has grown 27% since 2006 reaching $US3.58 billion. While the number of quilters has declined, the 'hard-core' quilting fraternity is spending more, and 14% of US households are home to a dedicated quilter. Batiks are popular, with patterns for batik designs being chosen by 2/3 of US quilters - a trend Kathy noted during her visit to Houston last year. To read more, click here
