Final Step

The final step was achieved on Saturday June 9 during Queensland's long weekend holiday for Queen Elizabeth II.  We had some help - thanks Tony - and made all 6 remaining steps that day.  On Sunday we did the finishing touches.  The last 2 steps have shorter side pieces so as to leave soil near the top undisturbed (we really wanted to shovel as little as possible by this time.)  The final step is made as a box (4 sides - 1.5 x 0.6m).  The final riser is pinned with 600mm rods horizontally and vertically and also by the top "box" step.  There are 16 steps as calculated - it may not look much, but we will remember the effort for some time to come!  Next job is to start planting the slope.
